GUYANA- NATIONAL UNITY NOW

Wars are Party neutral. Their goal is your country. We shouldn't even have to say it.

ONE GUYANA?

One Guyana may be an intent but is easily refuted if laws and policies to effect the intent are not for the benefit of all of society.

ELECTIONS PROMISE NO CHANGE

Pickings are definitely slim when rejecting the over recycled choices of the current Parties are contending with men who have been sanctioned for fraud by the FBI.

MESSAGING MATTERS

PoliticsGUYANAMESSAGING MATTERS

What is “the PPP continues to steal our proposals”? How are they stolen, if presented in a national forum by an elected Opposition on behalf of national enhancement?

And if they’re your proposals, we’re sure that you have the operational mechanism…which would be a feasibility study of reviving and/or rebuilding a brand which once infused national pride, went bankrupt in 2001 and gasped through nominal existence to finality, in 2003.

If this guy makes these statements as a random person, unaffiliated with a critical political entity, then it’ll be just another drop of folly in the bucket of public opinion.

But they are posted under the moniker ‘Leader of the Opposition’… of the Party that was established in 1957 to guarantee suffrage rights to a specific voting bloc and its affiliates… which makes his statement that of national import.

And there’s more.

Unless you’re an independently owned and operated industrial complex, upgrading your army is not merely a trip to the hardware store. Neither is it calling up a friend and asking for some military surplus that may be lying around.

Without being overly expansive, as a country that sits as a subordinate at the international table, munitions and their origin will have to pass international muster.

And for the purpose of sticking to the point, we’ll ignore the suggestions of calling on Russia or China or Middle Eastern associates for military help.

We’re sure those making these suggestions are aware of how ‘efficient’ the Chinese and Russian hand- me- downs to the Bolivarian Army are…once they move past the imposing pictures of apparent might.

Now, on to elections, which were slated to be held by November 2025, as published by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems – the Bookkeeper of countries that exercise Democracy.

And we’re using this because Guyana is listed as one of those countries…one that has democratic elections at Constitutionally mandated periods.

So, it follows, this has always been a General Election year in Guyana, when the electorate goes to the polls to select a new Leader.

Typical elections follow a season of robust campaigning when plans and promises are fed to voters starving for new hope.

And for the Opposition, which had the five previous years to show a capacity for being a national and not just a partisan entity, we’re observing how it maneuvers on what is an obvious obstacle course in messaging to the nation, as a whole.

Aiming for partisan cheerleaders and those whose support is assured because of some fickle proxy that subordinates country, is mere noise.

As an elected Arm of Government, we know that the Opposition is an official office that is recognized by the Diplomatic Community, per protocol.

This is why the conduct of the Opposition, more than elected winners, is under greater scrutiny by the resident diplomatic community which is there at the invitation and acceptance of the leading arm.

We do know that there is a history of the Opposition attempting to violate protocol to escalate national politics on the international stage.

What we don’t know is if it is used by the Opposition to field matters of national importance, as against local politics…which resulted in avoidable embarrassment in which the Ambassador was more than innocent broker- is our opinion.

But we also know that the leading countries know spin and carefully choose words that cannot be flexed for political convenience...as they know the characters of those whom they deal with.

Blinken’s use of ‘constructive’, here, is neither nuanced nor subtle. It is precise.

“Constructive opposition is essential to a vibrant and stable democracy”…is unequivocal.

That is what he said and that is what he meant…and what remains the foundation of the democracy that America exports…even if self-servant Marco Rubio is now the appointed vendor.

Nevertheless, the Opposition’s strategy remains a rotation of confrontations, as we round the bend to the homestretch for General Elections.

Lurching from demanding the logistic impossibility of Bio-metrics, through using the diplomatic community as the ‘headmaster’s office’ to submit complaints – the stutter step that’s Opposition strategy- is the one constant that takes it in to General Elections.

And the perpetual boycotts- the revolving in and out of Parliament by the Opposing Parties – is bisected by the genuine belief that it is some sort of leverage and the fact that the international community will stand behind the decision makers by virtue of position and not the decision contributors, who look disloyal when politicking in the face of national threat.

It’s the de facto benefit/disadvantage of national leadership…as it is the defacto benefit for of an Opposition that holds the leading Party accountable through effective messaging, citing misconduct against standing laws and policies, and being more practitioner than performer in the execution of the hallowed duties of political leadership.

Hopefully, when this is all over, there will be some compunction to revisit the foundation of the PNC, its current framework and its capacity to deliver for its purpose.

Threats of War demand unanimity of action- not of Party but of Government – which is comprised of Leadership and Opposition.

Cross Party cooperation is no longer an option but an imperative.

And how you respond in defense of your nation will be a precursor to how you lead your nation …in which there are members of every Party…and ample examples, of how this works with the country’s current leaders.

Replacement at the polls should be the incentive…nothing else.

Now, two things have occurred, almost simultaneously, that have produced eruptions within the chatter chambers.

A General Election Date of September 1, 2025 has been set and the conversation has immediately fled to Ghana and its implementation of Biometrics in six weeks without the backstory of facts because ‘facts’ is not the reason for the post.

Informing constituents is more duty than riling them up.

It would be to the nation’s advantage to understand that that Ghana’s Biometric use was a fixture since 2012 and any or everything that occurred in ‘six weeks’ – the purchase of Biometric Verification Devices and Biometric Voter Registration Kits – was more than ten years in the making and in the pipeline since 2018 for their 2020 elections.

It’s simply unconscionable to mislead those who look to you for leadership or information.

Sulking at elections having been “sprung” upon the nation attests, too, to ‘preparedness’ – considering that it is public information that a general election is mandated by the Constitution every five years.

And all this nests on the second thing- the declaration of one, Azruddin Mohamed, sanctioned by America’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, joining the contest for leader of the nation.

That he was met with a flurry of social media cheers confirms the clamor for fresh leadership, a distaste for the old guard and an indifference to the character of the ‘would be leader’, given the contents of the current political grab bag.

We’re in the camp of those hoping that opportunity remains for a reconstruction of the PNC whose ‘R’, we’ve never seen.

They’ve overdrawn on the trust account of their voters, hanging on to traditions and failing to incorporate changing times into their outreach formula.

Now the competition includes a vote- buying competitor- far exceeding the sacks of ground provision and the USD25.00 that are practical gifts that appeal to the down-trodden.

This is where political failure has landed the nation.

Whatever happens, the only way forward for the Party that was founded in 1957 to assure suffrage rights and governing participation for all, not just one voting bloc, is a major overhaul of the standing systems and framework which are all currently unidentifiable.

Come on and Comment.....
