GUYA PUBLIC DEBT IN CARRY OVER COLUMN

ArchivesGUYA PUBLIC DEBT IN CARRY OVER COLUMN

In the midst of the hypocrisy and partisan grandstanding stand the poor Guyanese people  -literally and figuratively- at the mercy of politicians who gamble on their knowledge of the workings of Government, as they- the politicians-  flagrantly lie to promote partisan agendas.

Frank Anthony’s attack of conscience on “bread and butter issues on behalf of youth” may be an ostentatious leap into the 2020 ring but exposes the dystrophy of his political muscle.

If he had any interest in his statement bearing any semblance of credibility, he would have included in said statement that Issuing of Treasuries— Treasury Bills – is common practice by governments for quick raising of funds because Treasuries are typically short term debentures.

He would not have, only and painstakingly, made it a practice that is unique to this Coalition Government… but would have cited the number of times, over the twenty three years of his Party’s regime, that debentures were issued under Jagdeo-

– the alarming statement of accounts like, for example, that of  2001 which showed Guyana as essentially bankrupt and ostensibly broke-

-and the Constitution that Jagdeo raped with Amendments to hide his obsequiousness and the creative accounting of his Finance Minister, Ashni Singh, whose wife, Gitanjali Singh, was the Auditor General overseeing the honesty of her husband’s figures.

It is time for Guyanese to become aware of the mechanics of government and those running for office should, as matter of morality that should go with patriotism, make this education an integral part of their platforms.

Oozing unctuousness from political pores symbolizes the corruptness of the entire political enterprise which is, flagrantly, an apocalyptic mess with politicians speaking from both sides of their faces with pious populism.

It’s hard not call honesty vs. dishonesty when politicians speak frankly about situations at one time then indulge public delusions when it’s to their benefit.

The trajectory of effective politics in Guyana has flatlined on decline.

Here’s to hoping that the morality of those seeking political office will meet at the crossroads of the desire of the electorate to be educated on what government really means.

Come on and Comment.....
