REBOOT OR PERISH

There was always going to be a winner in this 2025 election. It was never going to be PNC because of its compromised interpretation of leadership and the surrender to its substandard.

And, Coalition indecision is not helping to assuage the anxieties of its electorate, either. Its multiple near-death experiences are taking a toll on its electorate...with social battle lines entrenched and contentious warriors dug in for the long haul.

MESSAGING MATTERS

Lurching from demanding the logistic impossibility of Bio-metrics, through using the diplomatic community as the ‘headmaster's office’ to submit complaints - the stutter step that’s Opposition strategy- is the one constant that takes it in to General Elections.

REASSURANCE REQUIRED

PoliticsGUYANAREASSURANCE REQUIRED

A volcano of bombast and stray thoughts had always foretold the direct measure of incompetence and failure the Leader brought to a portfolio he landed, because the process of identifying candidates had decayed since the Party’s glory years; when the founders and their immediate survivors were still able to follow an established blue print.

One week post collapse of this historic carriage to voting rights for parts of the population that would have been excluded if there were no Proportional Representation, the listening spaces are feeding themselves with platitudes of ‘Rigging and Recount’ as balm for their open wounds – mostly because the credo of campaigning was irresponsibly ignored…the emotional preparation for both possible outcomes.

That we haven’t officially heard ‘Analysis and Postmortem‘ from the defeated Leader is preferable… because it will suggest that his brand is still what the Party prefers.

We were hoping that the Elders and/or those who are still of the original school of the Party’s formation would have, by now, determined a path forward to salvage the carnage left in the wake of a process that needs complete reconstruction.

We’re not suggesting the drumming out of the Leader, whose loss by a landslide has already done that.

We’re requesting an official statement from those who would have ascended to administrative levels to steer the Party back on course- to that of competitive viability.

We respect the organizing articles of its Constitution and are supportive of yielding to grace and the opportunity for the preservation of dignity, where that is a path forward.

Similarly, we hope that there is simultaneous consultation to navigate any legal hurdles that may be encountered as decorum is extended – especially to sustain the founding principles of the Party’s formation.

One week is an eternity at this juncture, especially since the first sitting of the 13th Parliament with the PNC ousted as Opposition Leader, is imminent.

The fallen Leader is still the Holder of the List which gives him the power to determine who sits in Parliament to represent the PNC.

We hope that the further incineration of this bastion of political history- the PNC- and it’s dignity is not allowed by promoting, by supporting, selections by this failed leader which would be asserting power beyond comprehension, from beyond the Parliamentary perimeter of potency.

Manufacturing traits to emblazon a Leader has gotten us to this perverted version of a ‘Paradise Lost’ and a desperate faith which has to be corrected- to keep those who are still committed to preserving this political carriage that was constructed on a platform that included, amongst other qualities, making sound decisions.

We understand post election pain but we know that, in the realm of politics, timely responses shape public opinion and by extension, the mood of those recovering from electoral defeat.

If anything, this trouncing teaches that the ‘Rally around the Candidate’ cry is a hypocrisy with detrimental outcomes.

But if there’s a silver lining, it also offers ample opportunity to re-construct.

Failure should be your Teacher…not your Undertaker…the saying goes.

There’s a wealth of non Party expertise that can drawn…which brings us to another saying … the ‘Unbearable necessity of knowledge’…which must now saturate this Party to bring it back to its platform of excellence and its rightful place in the history of Guyana’s politics.
