Democracy has ratified all the learned pre-mortems road – mapping its path to death.
Dying in figurative darkness should, therefore, not be its demise.
We heard of Project 2025 in 2023 and the ensuing din from Democratic politicians.
Five-alarming ominous death and destruction in all of its literal parts, suggested that counter planning was afoot, that the pillars of democracy were being dissected into its functional parts and the expertise within the political industrial complex was dispatched with Mission to Protect, Prevent and Preserve.
We say this because our offers to assist have been routinely ignored, answered with form letters of generic vagueness, suggesting that those whom we support don’t even take the time to consider that we are human and have abilities beyond ‘chipping in’ to fund -raisers to fuel their continued failures.
The Party is not without it’s A-list strategists.
James Carville rushes to mind but to get to him/them, we have to swim through the moat of political sea dogs defending with territorial fierceness, thinking that their jobs will be in jeopardy if ‘the boss’ gets alternate opinions.
Telling us that Elon Musk- a South African, whose political views are grounded in racism and seeing anything not white-skinned as other – has now breached America’s Treasury, via a President whose election is the embodiment of democracy’s perviousness, is the lazy politicking that got us here.
The Democratic Party is, itself, dying from its interpretation of Democracy which seems to be that of embracing its failures in the name of loyalty and recycling resources beyond capacity for quality contribution.
As die hard Democrats we support its agenda but because we are ‘Die Hards’ we will call out its abject failure.
Kamala Harris was a quality candidate – as evidenced in the margins by which she lost… LESS THAN 1%. And these margins tell the story of a Party that transported her to that loss on a chassis that is more obsolete than effective.
How many of us cringed at the festival-like campaign stops, featuring music artists, wishing that we would have seen her in smaller settings talking directly to/about us, answering in real time to real concerns.
We cringed, too, at the repetitions of the stump speeches by her and Obama …stunned that the Democratic machine seemed unaware that this info is no longer disseminated by news paper …with readers getting it in slow time…but its heard in real time via the modern methods they seemed not to have kept up with.
Yes, she had only 107 days to impress the nation but that is why we were hoping that the Campaign Strategists would have re-evaluated strategy for this short runway to take off…now that virtual face time and a plethora of modern technology is readily available.
Instead, we saw the deployment of the obsolete blue print with mere cosmetic changes and no attention paid to the fact that the misogynists were blaring on social media against, not only her gender, but her black gender.
For all its pageantry, the Democratic National Convention failed at the fundamentals… the primary being its refusal to give Palestinians a slot at he podium but gave same to the parents of a Jewish October 7th hostage, in a snub of a voting bloc that included the critical youth vote.
Of course the DNC Chair at that time, Harrison, got the opportunity to profile his children… not because they were voting age…but because he was the Chair, despite his failing and flailing through out his tenure.
We can go in to why, freshly off his failed Senate run in South Carolina, he was gifted the position of DNC Chair by President Biden who, media likes to say, was victorious because James Clyburn told ‘his people’ to vote for Biden thus turning his fortunes around.
It’s the kind of political poppycock that manufactures legend for the sake of capturing audience for ratings. Curiously, this media never mentions Clyburn’s reported participation in gerrymandering his district to ensure until death do they part.
Never the less, it’s part of the pathology of Party Obsolescence and why there was a lack of tacticians to re- evaluate and reposition resources and methods to make the heroic efforts of Kamala Harris a historic success.
It’s also why, as we watch our democracy leveled to its knees by an organized chain of roguery, we’re receiving emails fund raising for a failed DNC Chair captioned ‘Thank You Proud of You’ as he leaves because of his contribution to Harris’ loss.
Democratic Heads of House of Representatives and Senate are giving us their version of Churchillian defiance but without its inspiration.
Famously, Churchill said “To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often” and we see this as applicable to the enduring stagnation of the Democratic Party in this critical time of crisis.
The boiler plate remedies and responses have long left the building as the effectiveness of new labels like ‘influencers’ and ‘alogorithms’ have affixed themselves to national politics.
Congressional heads calling for support in the face of the MUSK raid on the national treasury rings pathetically hollow and unassuring that they are not in the fog of the ongoing displacement of democracy, especially because they remain unreachable.
In their Churchillian imitations, they’re forgetting that Winston called for a broad based approach to crisis to save the country. It behoves Democratic Party Leaders to do so, now that the thing they knew existed since 2023, has been unleashed upon us all, without their political preparedness to sufficiently counter Musk’s Machiavellian take over of America, in his biggest conquest yet.
We are confident that the electorate that chose Trump will soon tire of his dismantling of norms that have protected them, even during the Presidencies of Democratic leaders…including Black Barrack Obama.
It’s a game of show and tell that requires recruitment from outside of the pool it has recycled beyond re-usability.
The Principles of Best Practices should be the go-to doctrine at this moment.
