The intent to instill fear and trembling is demonstrated by a vice president in a 4th presidential term, citing issuance of a notice to vacate after 47 years of occupancy and a notice to reapply for tenancy simultaneously in a choreographed presentation, is a demonstration of the power they can exert over the people they’ve chosen to be their enemy.
We thought- given the history of budget inadequacy so profound that Guyana still sits in the lowest percentile of Western Hemisphere poverty- that the public servants tasked with 2023 Budget formation would have been unbudgingly invested in creating a budget for national benefit.
The job of the Opposition is to check and balance...not for specific individuals, particular groups or decided causes but for the overall improvement of all resident Guyanese.
It’s budget time and we need more than an act…a person who seems to think deflecting inadequacies is a formula for his abundant failure. This performance might be good for Party rallies where people bond by being happy and hateful over the same political incidents. It’s a solidarity of shared animosities.

We’ve all paid the price for an ineffective Opposition, one that failed to establish a relationship as a constitutional entity of governance with the resident diplomatic community; one that lacks the acumen, the capacity, to present to the international bodies that support the alleged democracy of Guyana’s political rule, how much of the tenets of democratic living are violated as a matter of course.
